How To Put On Lifting Straps
Lifting straps can help you releave stress from your wrists. Learn how to put them on!
EQUIPMENT
How To properly put on lifting straps, follow these steps:
Start by unraveling the lifting straps completely, making sure they are not tangled or twisted.
Hold one end of the lifting strap in each hand. The end with the loop or opening should be in your dominant hand.
Pass the lifting strap through the loop or opening, creating a secure loop around your wrist or hand. Make sure the loop is tight enough to hold onto the weight but still allows for some flexibility.
Hold the excess strap firmly with your non-dominant hand.
With your dominant hand, reach over and wrap the excess strap around the barbell, dumbbell, or handle you are going to lift. Wrap it at least once or twice, depending on the length of the strap and your personal preference.
Once the strap is securely wrapped around the barbell or handle, hold onto the strap with your dominant hand to maintain a firm grip.
Repeat the process with the other lifting strap for your other hand.
Adjust the position of the lifting straps and ensure they are secure and comfortable before starting your lift.
It's important to note that lifting straps are typically used for exercises such as deadlifts, rows, and shrugs, where grip strength may become a limiting factor. They can help you hold onto heavier weights for longer periods, but it's also essential to work on improving your grip strength naturally.
Remember to follow any specific instructions provided by the manufacturer of the lifting straps you are using, as different types may have slight variations in their usage.
